One of the worst blizzards in years hits Cherringham, cutting off the village from the rest of the world. Just outside of town, Broadmead Grange is a struggling retirement home, housed in a gothic mansion behind towering walls. One of the home's residents, poor old Archy, becomes Cherringham's latest victim after he loses himself amongst the snow drifts. Did Archy really just fall victim to the elements, or was there foul play involved? Jack and Sarah take on the case to dig up the truth.
Cherringham is a serial novel à la Charles Dickens, with a new mystery thriller released each month. Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the 12 self-contained episodes is a quick read for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa.
For fans of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple series, Lilian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who series, Caroline Graham's Midsomer Murders, and the American TV series Murder She Wrote, starring Angela Lansbury.
Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid 90’s, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and - most recently - the successful crime fiction series Cherringham. Now into its second season of 12 novellas, Cherringham is popular around the world and has been adapted as a series of audiobooks in English and German.

The writing style is clean and crisp, but that's about the best thing I can say about this. I love British mysteries usually so I tried this one--but I won't be reading more. It's very shallow as far as character and plot go, like a 30 minute mystery on t.v. that's crammed into a short time-frame. I felt like it compared better to Nancy Drew than to Miss Marple. It's a very quick story to read--if that's what you seek. I finished with one question: "Why did I read that?"Product details

Cherringham Snowblind A Cosy Crime Series Cherringham Mystery Shorts Book 8 eBook Neil Richards Matthew Costello Reviews
good
Interesting characters, well written, and chilling.
This one has twists that keep you guessing.
I love these Cherringham short books and I am working my way through all of them. I love English cozy mysteries and this series is a perfect comtemporary set of stories. The two detectives are engaging and real; the plots are interesting and believable; the writing style of the two authors is fun to read and keeps me interested right to the end. Each story is a perfect bedtime read.
Maybe their just getting old, but the story line was boring and the dialogue simply put me to sleep. Too much detail, not enough action.
The first I've read in this series and plan to read more. The characters are very human and the book had a good mix of dialogue and description.
I enjoyed the first set of Cosy Crime Series books set in Cherringham. They make for an enjoyable read. The American retired NYPD detective and the English small business owner are an unusual sleuth team but they work well together and the repartee between the American's English and the English's English is fun for those of us who have lived in countries where English is the native language but is not American English and we sometimes put our foot in our mouth. The mysteries have a few twists and turns which keep the reader guessing but give enough clues that you can follow along with our intrepid detectives as they work to solve the crimes. Not Agatha but still very enjoyable. I hope that the authors will continue the series as I would like to see how the characters develop over time. Their partnership has evolved from a necessary evil to what looks to be a close friendship as well as a successful investigating team. Will it remain a close friendship or develop into something deeper? I also like the fact that in these mysteries they are not looked upon by the local police constabulary as interfering amateurs and are open to their help. A nice change since most books featuring amateur detectives are always deemed interfering by the police even though they are usually the ones who solve the crimes. It gets tiresome after a while so this series where they work with the police was a nice change. However, like the Midsummer Murders featured on PBS, the village of Cherringham seems to have an awful lot of murders in such a small community. Don't think I would like to live there but it certainly is an great place to visit on a lazy day with a cup of tea, a comfortable chair and a good mystery.
